    About the Role



    We are looking for Principal Software Engineer in our architecture group, who will participate in researching, designing, implementing, evaluating various core technical solutions for E*TRADE Financial Systems. Additionally, as lead technical contributor, this role may assume significant engineering ownership of generic and in-house server side solutions,



    • As a team member, contribute in evolving and implementing next generation of enterprise architecture with holistic view
    • Stay abreast of upcoming technologies and compare the competition solutions objectively. .
    • Become expert on server side development frameworks maintained by the group, and be prepared to take ownership of its operational duties.
    • Research and architect strategic solution for vaguely defined problem that has plenty of ambiguity. Manage the solution by dividing into manageable tasks.
    • Design and implement end-to-end solution for typical problem on distributed architecture, while assuring concerns such as scalability, availability, and capacity
    • As a chief programmer, lead strategic development initiative end-to-end, while promoting best practices, quality and engineering workmanship within team.
    • Collaborate within cross-functional Scrum/Kanban team. Be a great team player.
    • Interact with external support teams on behalf of team to resolve technical hurdles
    • Serve external stakeholders on technical matters with excellent stewardship
    • Teach technical solutions developed by the team to rest of the organization by means of training and/or documentation
    • Mentor junior members of the team.
    • Fully understand the established processes and their significance. Help to optimize and improve these processes.
    • Support E*TRADE's commitment to audit and compliance





    • Solid computer science fundamentals in data structures and algorithms.
    • Great handle on architectural patterns and design patterns such as GOF
    • Proficient in Java and J2EE
    • Good understanding of Spring framework. Hands-on knowledge of recent Spring cloud libraries is a major plus.
    • Some experience with Tomcat and Linux



    • Hands on working knowledge of relational database and SQL
    • Good understanding of developer productivity tools and frameworks such as GIT, Maven
    • Believer in TDD and BDD practices as well as knowledge of Cucumber and Selenium is a huge plus.
    • Aware of DevOps practices
    • Aware of Agile SDLC
    • Experience in financial domain is a plus.
    • Optionally, experience in Kafka, RabbitMQ, AMQP, Spring Integration, CXF is a major plus
